The CIA have reported findings that link Saudi Crown Prince to the murder of journalist Khashoggi.

By Cassandra Elliott.

The CIA have just released a report concluding that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered the assassination of Jamal Khashoggi in Turkey last month.

US officials have told the Washington Post (where Khashoggi used to contribute) that they have high confidence in the CIA’s findings. The reportconcludes that prince’s brother, Khalid bin Salman, (who is also the Saudi ambassador to the United States)was ordered by the Prince to call Khashoggi and ask him to come to the Saudi Consulate to retrieve documents to marry his Turkish fiancé.

These findings directly contradict the previous claims of Saudi officials that they’ve had no contact with Khashoggi since 2017.

The report’s conclusion is based on the fact that the Crown Prince is involved in even the minor decisions the country makes. A US official familiar with the CIA’s findings says, “the accepted position is that there is no way this happened without him being aware or involved”.

This breaking news will make it hard for Trump to continue to safeguard the relationship with their close allies in the region.
