The White House went into lock down mode local time 3:15pm local time Friday (3:15am Perth time Saturday 13th April) after a man in a wheelchair scooter lit his jacket on fire, on Pennsylvania Avenue just outside the White House in Washington, D.C., in the United States of America.

Secret Service officers extinguished the fire and provided first aid. The man, who was not identified by the agency, was transported to hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Multiple vehicles with flashing lights have been seen arriving on Pennsylvania Avenue soon after.

President Donald Trump was at the White House at the time.
