Fierce wind and rain could not put a stop to the Blue and Gold Squads graduation ceremony at the WA Police Academy this morning.
40 new officers put on a brave face in the rain, as they marched at the first graduation ceremony for the new police commissioner Chris Dawson.
This ceremony not only congratulated the new officers, but also commemorated 100 years of women in Policing.
It was the first graduation to include equal numbers of men and women, and featured women in lead roles with an all women Banner Party, Parade Sergeant, motorcycle escorts and MC.
“It was obviously stormy, if that’s the worst condition our graduates will experience they will have a pretty good career,” Mr Dawson said.
“They wanted to march and we want them to graduate when their family and friends are there.”
The award winning Pipe Band played ‘women in blue’ as the new officers marched, especially written for this year celebration.
