Kensington Detectives charged two men after they allegedly attempted to evade police last night.
At the intersection of Francisco Street and Orrong Road, in Rivervale, around 8:20pm Police approached a BMW and it will be alleged the driver accelerated away, through a red traffic light.
The officers activated lights and sirens and attempted to stop the BMW, however the driver failed to do so. The attempt to stop the vehicle was aborted shortly thereafter.
After a second attempt to stop the vehicle, the Police Air Wing crew monitored the vehicle as it drove through several suburbs.
Additional police resources were called in to assist, with a true deflation device successfully deployed on Alexander Drive in Ballajura.
The vehicle became disabled and was then abandoned in a car park of a fast food restaurant. The two occupants were arrested after running into the restaurant.
It will be alleged that the BMW is a stolen vehicle.
A 20 year old man has been charged with the following; He was refused bail and is appearing in Perth Magistrate’s Court today.
– Steal Motor Vehicle and Drive Recklessly
– Reckless Driving (to escape pursuit by police)
– Fail to Stop
– No authority to drive
Another 25 year old man has also been charged with Steal Motor Vehicle and will appear at Perth Magistrate’s Court on January 5th 2018.
