WA Police are unlikely to receive the 1.5 per cent pay rise they were hoping for, after the State Government continued to not budge on the flat $1000 wage increase offer.
George Tillbury, WA Police Union President, does not anticipate that the Government will honour its pre-election promise of 1.5 per cent.
Treasurer Ben Wyatt hopes the dispute is settled sooner rather than later, with the Government remaining firm on their offer.
“They’ll get the pay rise as per the policy… We don’t intend to move from that,”
“The relevant minister, me, the Premier, and the cabinet; we know what our policy is and we’re not going to deviate from that. I think we’ve made that fairly clear to the police union and any further industrial action is not going to sway us from that position,” Mr Wyatt said.
