O.C star wins revenge porn case

Mischa Barton, actress and star of the hit teen drama TV show, the OC, has had a successful win in court on Tuesday.

Reports emerged in March that a sex tape was in circulation involving the star, being distributed by her ex-boyfriend, Jon Zacharias, in an act of revenge porn. Barton released a statement shortly after retaining her lawyer, Lisa Bloom.

The statement released by Barton in March read, my “worst fear was realised when I learned that someone I thought I loved and trusted was filming my most intimate and private moments, without my consent with hidden cameras.”

Outside court on Tuesday, Barton and her lawyer posed for a photo together celebrating their win.

The image was posted on Bloom’s social media, captioned, “Distribution of the explicit images banned, ex stays 100 yards away forever.”

CBS Los Angeles reported that the agreement reached between both parties had Zacharias hand over all images to Barton and not to distribute them.

In court papers Barton alleged that Zacharias took photos of her while she was naked, and filmed the couple having sex, without her knowledge. The report alleges Zacharias was trying to sell the tapes for $500,000 US.

Bloom released a statement shortly after the court win, declaring this case as a victory for all women.

“I am proud to declare victory for Mischa,” it reads. “She did this not just for herself, but for all women and girls. Mischa wants everyone to know that we have the right to control our own bodies and decide whether or not to have explicit photos out there for the world to see. If a woman wants to do that, fine. If she doesn’t, fine. The choice is hers, and hers alone.”
