WA Planning Minister John Day has announced the construction of the Mundijong Road extension, linking both the Kwinana Freeway and Mandurah Road.
Federal Member Gary Gray has represented the Federal Government, due to their contribution of 8.7 million dollars whilst the state government has contributed 10.3million dollars and the city of Rockingham has contributed 9.1 million dollars.
The minister believed the construction will boost job opportunities in the area.
“This extension will be an important connection between the Kwinana Freeway and the major industrial areas and port facilities of Rockingham, Kwinana, Garden Island and Fremantle Outer Harbour,” Mr Day said.
“It will also serve as a link between the Kwinana Freeway, the Rockingham city centre and the Stirling Naval Base.
“The road extension will involve full earthworks, construction of a single carriageway and new intersections on Baldivis, Millar and Mandurah roads.”
The 5 kilometre Mundijong Road extension will cost 28 million dollars.
