A Midvale man has been charged after attempting to evade police during a chase in Perth’s northern suburbs.
Officers from the Regional Operations Group were patrolling in Balga at approximately 2:45pm when they attempted to stop a Mitsubishi Lancer on Ravenswood Drive.
Police allege the driver failed to stop and attempted to evade police through Balga and Nollamara before reaching the intersection of Karrinyup Road and Muir Street.
While at the intersection, the driver reversed the Lancer into a police vehicle several times.
A passenger then exited the vehicle and the driver fled on foot, with the driver entering the rear of a nearby vehicle before being apprehended by police.
A 35-year-old man has been charged with no authority to drive, possessing drug paraphernalia containing a prohibited drug or plant, possessing a prohibited drug (methamphetamine) and possessing a prohibited drug (cannabis).
He has also been charged with two counts of assault with intent to prevent arrest, failing to comply with a police direction to stop, reckless driving to escape police pursuit and breaching bail.
He appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court today.
