A man has been charged after an incident occurred in Padbury last night, June 7 2018.
At about 10:30pm, traffic officers attempted to halt a green Holden Commodore on Warburton Avenue in Padbury.
Authorities will allege that the driver did not comply, failing to stop and driving recklessly through streets before approaching northbound of the Mitchell Freeway.
The driver eventually stopped the vehicle in the emergency lane approximately 100m south of the Whitfords Avenue exit. He then vacated the Commodore and ran through thick bushes beside the freeway.
It’s reported that Canine unit was deployed to assist the chase, a handgun was discovered in the boot of the Commodore during the time.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested shortly afterwards in Ninnis Place North, Padbury.
Joondalup investigators have charged a 27 year old man from Noranda. Charges are as follows:
1. Possess firearm with circumstances of aggravations
2. Drive, cause or permit vehicle with forged, replica or false plate
3. No authority to drive
4. Driver of vehicle fail to comply with direction to stop
5. Reckless driving to escape pursuit by police
The man is due to appear in Joondalup Magistrates Court on 29 June 2018.
