West Australians looking to purchase or rent now have a housing guide, aiming to help people choose a home and understand how the benefits of good building design can affect they way they live.
“This guide will help cut through the marketing lingo and offer advice on what questions to ask…” said Perth MLA, John Carey.
“Good design promotes good health, and that’s what all good cities need to aspire to,”
The guide was developed by the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) as part of the State Government’s Design WA initiative, offering expert advice on what questions to ask when purchasing or renting a house or apartment, and 10 principles of good design.
Rita Saffioti, Planning Minister, said good building design benefits us all and does not cost more if considered early on.
“The home buying process can be overwhelming and people are not always getting what they expect. We want to empower people to make better choices when purchasing or renting a home,” she said.
The proposed Design WA stage one is expected to be finalised in early 2018, with work also underway for stage two of the initiative.
The guide will be available at this weekend’s Open House Perth event, with support by the State Government.
