The McGowan Government has announced that christmas trading hours will be extended by an additional 49 hours, with extended trading on public holidays like Boxing Day, New Year’s Day and Australia Day next year.
Commerce Minister, Bill Johnston, said the extensions are similar to last year and will ensure that people have a successful christmas shopping experience with additional flexibility.
“Starting on Tuesday the 5th of December there will be an additional 49 hours of trading in the lead up to Christmas,”
“I think that this year’s christmas trading will be better than we’ve seen in the last few years because we know that there’s more confidence in WA and people are more prepared to open their wallet and take a chance on retail spending at the moment,” he said.
The Minister also announced the progress of the 3 level car park at Westfield Carousel Shopping Centre, offering 700 new parking spaces for shoppers, and will be completed on November 16th, coinciding with the centre’s christmas trading hours.
Kate Holsgrove, believes that shopping isn’t just about shopping anymore; the experience you get is becoming more and more important.
“We’re really excited here at carousel to be launching a new David Jones and over 60 new specialty and lifestyle stores on level 1, expanding the great offers here at carousel,”
“We also will have a unique dining and entertainment complex connecting with the existing hoyts cinema, which is also doing upgrades. So late next year there will be some really cool places to eat and hang out,” she said.
