Elderly Victimised In St James Armed Robbery

Kensinginton Detectives are seeking information regarding an armed robbery that occurred in St James before midday yesterday.

A woman ages in her 60’s was exiting a supermarket on Chapman Road when she noticed a man near the pay phone on Pitt Street, close by to her silver Holden Calais.

As she reached her vehicle, he approached the woman, produced a knife and demanded the keys.

The woman struggled and struck the offender a number of times with an umbrella. During this time the woman received a cut to the hand from the knife.

The man eventually took the keys and started the vehicle, speeding off and knocking the woman to the ground as she attempted to get the man out. She received bruising to her hands and knees.

The man is described as dark skinned, approximately 152cm tall, medium build, brown eyes, mid to late 20’s with a moustache.
