ABC launches ‘Vote Compass’

The ABC has launched an application to engage Australian voters about the Federal Election this September.

The public broadcaster is the first traditional media to use the tool developed in Canada and was used by media corporations in their country during their election period.

The applications will provide a unique platform for voters to voice out their opinions and gain in-depth political analysis and policies platforms of different parties.

ABC’s Election Analyst Antony Green believes that this application can provide more insight than traditional opinion polls.

“With Vote Compass the ABC will be providing voters with a new method of engaging with the policy debate. We also hope to use the data gathered to provide in depth analysis of the views of Australian voters, using a different source of data than traditional opinion polls.” Mr Green said.

Vote Compass will gather information and help to shape ABC’s traditional intensive news coverage on the election and will become a major part of the federal election coverage.
