One of WA’s most iconic events is back for its 29th year, where over 2,500 swimmers will compete in the Rottnest Channel Swim tomorrow morning.
The 19.7km swim from Cottesloe beach to Rottnest Island is a drawcard for swimmers across the world, with 46 international and 506 interstate and regional competitors will compete against local perth swimmers taking on the challenge.
One of the busiest days of the year for Rotto will also see 1,000 paddlers and 950 boats hitting the water.
Tourism Minister, Paul Papalia, said the attraction of the swim to those outside of the State continues to raise the profile of the island and WA as a tourist destination.
“This year there are 18 countries represented in the Rottnest Island Channel swim, showing the event’s high regard amongst endurance and open water swimmers the world over,” he said.
