UK police wearing full-body protective gear have entered a hostel in Salisbury as they attempt to locate where two people came into contact with the nerve agent Novichok.
A 44-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man have been hospitalised and are now critically ill after coming into contact with Novichok, the same toxin used against Russian ex-spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter earlier this year.
The UK has a team of 100 officers working to find where and how the victims had come across an item contaminated with Novichok.
It may take months to find the source of the contamination, however, say police.
Paramedics were called to a house in Amesbury after the woman collapsed, and had to return later in the day after the man collapsed as well.
Britain has said that nothing about either the man or the woman suggest a link to Russia or espionage.
