Police have called the recovery of an 80-year-old woman with Alzheimer’s in Karrakup a “great result”, after she failed to return from a walk yesterday.
The woman went on a walk at around 10am on Tuesday morning, but her husband called police just after 1:30pm when she failed to return.
Mundijong Police coordinated a land search with the assistance of South East Metro Response, Mounted Section, Regional Operations Group and Police Air Wing (Polair).
Polair sighted the woman at about 3:50pm during a break in the weather and directed ground resources to her location.
Polair landed nearby and conveyed the woman to the Police Air Wing base, due to her condition, terrain and potential time frame to evacuate the area for medical treatment.
St John Ambulance had arranged to meet Police and she was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital for treatment and monitoring.
