Perth business leaders will be roughing it on a cold winter night in June in the fight against homelessness.
Around 100 sponsored CEOs will gather at the WACA ground for St Vincent de Paul’s CEO sleepout in June to raise funds for homelessness services.
St Vincent de Paul Society’s Marketing Manager, Louise Macfarlane, is confident that the organization can meet this year’s national fund raising goal of over $6 million, which is slightly higher than last year.
Ms Macfarlane says homelessness services from Vinnies are vital for young people who are suffering from domestic violence and mental health issues.
“So essentially what happen is that each CEO fundraises, so they get sponsored by their families, their friends and their work colleagues, and the fund goes to Vinnies’ homelessness services.” she said.
“We have two youth homelessness services, one in Peel and one in Northbridge. That for strict present youths between the age of 12 and 25, that’s where those funds go.”
“The funds also go to our Northbridge homelessness services which is very important, and that’s for adults and people who are experiencing homelessness.”
The ninth year of the event highlights growing homelessness levels across Perth.
The event will be held on 21st, June, 2018.
