Perth Airport is planning and seeking approvals for a new runway, and will see the creation of almost 500 jobs.
The New Runway Project will require an investment of $520 million, and is scheduled to become operational between 2023 and 2028.
Major Development Plans are underway, including approvals under Commonwealth legislation, and a 60 day consultation period ending ending 24 August 2018.
A Perth Airport Spokesperson said maintenance of current flight paths is being worked on, minimising new over fly areas.
However, new flight paths will be developed with possible increased aircraft noise around the Perth area.
More than 300,000 residents in surrounding areas have been notified about the changes.
Transport Minister Rita Saffioti, said there is considerable community interest in this project, but can be hard to navigate.
“New airport runways are never easy projects to implement…”
“We have to get that balance between making sure the community is properly consulted and also that Perth continues to grow as an international city,” she said.
